Shipping Policy

Modern Pastures, an online platform for farm-direct high-quality meats, is a division of Ruminate Foods Inc. Launched in February 2025, the company initially focused on supplying Alberta's largest urban centres, specifically Edmonton, Calgary, and the surrounding regions, as well as Red Deer. These regions are serviced with same or next day delivery, 5-days a week. These areas also benefit from lower delivery costs as we can avoid dry ice and thermal insulation

From July 7, 2025, we have added BC, some Saskatchewan, and the balance of Alberta delivery. Most of the Lower Mainland in BC will have delivery on Tuesdays. These same days we will send courier shipments to many areas of BC. Mondays and Tuesdays, we will ship to far-reaching areas of BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. This will prevent courier shipments from sitting over the weekend.

Customer pick-up options are provided from Edmonton and Calgary for anyone who wants to avoid delivery fees.

REFUND NOTE: For some northern parts of BC and Alberta, and several regions of Saskatchewan, where the courier will not deliver within 2 nights, we will cancel and refund orders.

We use dry ice to protect our frozen meat shipments. While we believe a third overnight is typically safe, we will avoid this for now and may revisit it in the fall, once we have more experience with couriers and cooler weather presents less risk of outdoor drop-offs.

Unfulfilled Deliveries
Any unfulfilled deliveries will be 100% refunded. 

Edmonton, Calgary, and surrounding areas - Orders received by 10AM MST will be delivered between 3PM and 7PM the same day, Monday to Friday, except for statutory holidays.

Red Deer - Orders received by 10AM MST will be delivered the next day between 1PM and 5PM, Monday through Friday. There are no deliveries on weekends, and Friday orders will be delivered on Monday unless it is a statutory holiday.

PICKUP
*Pick up is only available for frozen meat boxes only, not our shelf-stable jerky or meat sticks. 
Individual jerky packs are available to purchase at our Calgary Farm Store/warehouse, arrange an appointment at info@modernpastures.com

Edmonton Pickup - Orders received by 10AM MST Monday to Friday will be available for pick-up the next available pick up date.

BC
Lower Mainland: Orders received by 10AM PST on Monday will be delivered Tuesday.
(Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Surrey, Delta, Squamish & Whistler)

The rest of the Lower Mainland: Orders received by 10AM PST on Fridays will ship via courier, most occasions arriving the following Wednesdays.
(Tsawwassen, Port Moody, Pitt Meadows, White Rock, Maple Ridge, Langley, Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack)

The rest of BC: Orders received by 10AM PST on Fridays will be delivered the following Thursday.
(Victoria, Kelowna, and Kamloops)

Rest of Alberta and Saskatchewan:
Orders received by 10AM MST on Fridays will be delivered the following Thursday.
*Edmonton and Calgary regions remain with same-day delivery (Monday-Friday) via our partner, Deeleeo. Red Deer is a next-day service.

ORDERS OVER 10 CASES WE WILL CALL TO CONFIRM SHIPPING RATES.

COURIER ORDERS: THE SHIPPING CHARGE IS FOR UP TO 2 BOXES. MORE THAN 2 BOXES WILL BE CHARGED ANOTHER SHIPPING CHARGE. $20 SHIPPING DISCOUNTS WILL BE APPLIED IN 2 BOX INCREMENTS. OUR THERMAL PACKAGING FOR COURIER ORDERS HOLDS 2 BOXES.

HOT TIP: Buy 2 boxes at a time to SAVE! Thermal packaging is designed to hold up to two Modern Pastures boxes. So when you buy two boxes, your delivery charge per box is halved. Meat pricing remains volatile, so to maintain realistic and comparable pricing to retail, we must charge for delivery.
